1. Who we are
AfterLid is provided by Rajat Kumar Sajnani, sole proprietor of Eazee Consultancy, also trading as Just A Dev Company. This business is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. “AfterLid”, “we”, and “us” refer to that provider of the AfterLid Mac app, mobile companion, account website, and relay.
Business address: Flat 42/A, Assayee Road, Cox Town, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560005, India. GSTIN: 29GFIPS1102A1ZS.
Privacy contact: hello@afterlid.com.
This policy applies to AfterLid’s apps and websites. It does not replace the privacy policies of Apple, Clerk, RevenueCat, OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor, or another service you choose to connect.
2. Data we process
Account and identity
When you create or use an account, we process your name, email address, profile image if supplied, Clerk user identifier, sign-in and security metadata, and the dates associated with your account.
Previous launch list
If you joined the previous launch list, we process your email address, submission time, and limited anti-spam request metadata through Netlify Forms. We use this information only for AfterLid release news and early-access invitations.
Beta invite queue
When you join the beta testing programme through your account, we process whether you use Mac or Windows, whether your phone is an iPhone or Android device, your AfterLid account email, an Android Google Play email if you provide one, your queue position, beta cohort, invite status, the campaign source that brought you to AfterLid, your optional feedback follow-up choice, and any promotional Pro access attached to your place. We use this information to manage tester capacity, provide eligible Mac downloads, and send Google Play testing invitations. The iPhone beta uses a public TestFlight link, so AfterLid does not ask for or submit your Apple ID. If you tick the feedback option, we may also email you once or twice to ask how the app is going and whether you have encountered any problems.
Linked computer and safety status
To show your Mac or Windows PC remotely, the relay stores the computer name and identifier, account linkage, link and last-seen times, and the latest limited status snapshot. That snapshot can include the selected AfterLid mode, online state, lid state, power source, battery percentage, thermal category, power-helper state, guarded session timing, and app/runtime version.
Provider usage summaries
When you request the Usage screen, your Mac may return the connected provider name, usage percentages, reset times, observation time, and a short status message. The relay stores the latest limited usage summary and its timestamp so the app and widgets can display it. Newer data replaces it, and it is removed when you unlink the Mac or delete your account. Provider credentials remain in macOS Keychain and are not sent to AfterLid’s relay.
Subscriptions and purchases
Apple processes purchases made in the iPhone app through the App Store, and Google processes purchases made in a future Android release through Google Play. RevenueCat validates store receipts and synchronizes mobile entitlement status. Dodo Payments and its payment processors handle checkout for the direct-download Mac app. AfterLid receives a customer identifier and entitlement details such as whether Pro or a trial is active, product, renewal, and expiry status. RevenueCat also receives limited paywall-impression events used to operate the mobile subscription offering. We do not receive your full payment-card number.
Support, privacy requests, and technical records
We process information you send to support or in a data-rights request. Our hosting and relay providers may also process IP addresses, timestamps, request metadata, and error or security logs needed to operate and protect the service.
The work itself stays local.
AfterLid’s account relay is not designed to receive AI prompts, source files, filenames, generated artifacts, local job contents, or AI-provider access tokens. Custom character packs and their selected state stay on the device where you import them unless you separately choose to move the file.
3. Why and how we use data
- Provide the service and perform our contract: authenticate you, link computers, deliver status and requested commands, synchronize Pro access, and provide support.
- Legitimate interests: secure accounts and relay traffic, prevent fraud and abuse, diagnose failures, and maintain service reliability, balanced against your rights.
- Your consent: send updates to people who previously joined the launch list, contact beta testers who explicitly ask for a feedback follow-up, and use optional device permissions such as camera access for QR pairing and notifications when you choose to enable them. You can withdraw permission in system settings or ask us to remove your email from either contact list.
- Legal obligations: retain records where tax, accounting, consumer-protection, fraud-prevention, or other law requires it.
We do not sell personal data, use it for targeted advertising, or combine it with third-party data to track you across apps or sites. We use EU-hosted PostHog for limited first-party product analytics, such as anonymous website visits, feature use, mode duration, provider choice, character-import outcomes, and the Pro checkout funnel. Public website measurement is cookieless and does not create visitor profiles. Signed-in product events use your internal account ID, never your email address. We do not use analytics for advertising or cross-app tracking. Session replay and automatic interaction capture are disabled, and sensitive URL parameters are removed before analytics events are sent.
5. How long we keep data
- Account data is kept while your account is active and then removed or anonymized after a valid deletion request, except for records we must retain by law.
- Previous launch-list email addresses are kept until launch communications are complete or you ask us to remove yours.
- Beta invite queue details, campaign attribution, and feedback consent records are kept while the testing programme and related follow up are active, or until you delete your account or ask us to remove them. Queue numbers that have already been issued are not reused.
- A linked computer record and its latest status remain until you unlink the computer or delete the account.
- Remote command results are short-lived and removed after delivery or expiry. The latest provider-usage summary and timestamp remain with the linked computer record until replaced, the computer is unlinked, or the account is deleted.
- Support, security, and privacy-request records are kept only as long as needed to resolve the matter, protect the service, and meet legal obligations.
- Product analytics are retained according to AfterLid’s configured PostHog retention period. You can submit a verified privacy request to ask us to delete or anonymize analytics tied to your account where applicable.
- Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Dodo Payments, Clerk, and hosting providers retain information under their own documented schedules and legal duties.
When deletion cannot apply to a legally required record, we limit that record to the required purpose and retention period.
6. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, export, erase, or restrict processing of your personal data; object to processing based on legitimate interests; and withdraw consent. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Use the AfterLid data-rights page or the controls in More → Privacy & data on iPhone. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account owner. We aim to answer verified requests within 30 days and will explain if applicable law permits more time.
You can unlink a Mac without deleting your account. You can also revoke camera or notification permission in system settings and disconnect AI providers from the Mac app.
7. Security, children, and changes
We use authenticated account access, scoped relay endpoints, hashed Mac tokens, transport encryption, short-lived command queues, macOS Keychain storage for provider credentials, and Mac-side safety checks. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, so please report suspected issues promptly.
AfterLid is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data.
We may update this policy when the product, providers, or law changes. We will change the effective date and give additional notice in the app when a change materially affects your rights.
8. Contact AfterLid
Email hello@afterlid.com for privacy questions, security concerns, or rights requests. Please do not send passwords, provider tokens, or private work files.
