# AfterLid

> A desktop power companion for local work on Mac and Windows, with a linked phone companion.

AfterLid helps manage sleep during local downloads, renders, backups and development work. It is not cloud compute, a remote desktop viewer or an autonomous agent runner.

## Important distinctions

- On Mac, Sleepy follows normal sleep. Awake keeps the system and display awake with the lid open; it does not automatically turn the screen off or override lid-close sleep.
- Lid-closed operation is separate and depends on the installed version, hardware, permissions and operating system. The guides recommend lid-open operation. Mac and Windows behavior should not be assumed identical.
- A phone companion requires a linked computer. Read-only mobile status is available on Free; remote mode control requires Pro. Check current plan details on the product and account pages.
- Power controls cannot repair failed downloads, app crashes, lost connectivity or storage errors. Safety limits may end a session. Uninterrupted work and universal compatibility are not guaranteed.
- For an occasional Mac task, the built-in caffeinate command may be sufficient and does not require AfterLid.
